Hello dear friends! How is everyone holding up in the midst of social distancing? Thankfully, things are loosening up around here with social restrictions. It’s looking like we may get together with a few friends and family for Memorial Day. Woohoo!! To celebrate, I’m making a few easy recipes for the blog. The first recipe are these cinnamon sugar tortilla chips.
These were one of my favorite snacks as a kid. I mean, what could be better than sweet tortilla chips? Especially flavored with cinnamon and sugar? These are the perfect little quick snack for when you need to munch on something, or even for when you’ve made a sweet dip (helllooo fruit salsa). These cinnamon sugar tortilla chips would be perfect for a little Memorial Day get together, or even if you’re just hanging out at home watching movies. Hey, that’s all I’ve been doing, too!
Baked or fried?
One of the best things about these chips is how easy they are to make. There’s no frying involved here, just a little butter and some baking. In just a few minutes, your house will be smelling amazing and you’ll be ready to chow down on these suckers. Oooh, you know what they would be really good with? Ice cream and chocolate syrup! Or even a side with your favorite fruit dip. Man, the possibilities are just endless here.
First, you’ll cut up some flour tortillas. Then, you smother them in melted butter and give them a good coat with the cinnamon and sugar mix. Try to make sure that all tortillas are separated so they get a nice coating with the mix. Arrange them in an even layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Then, just pop them in the oven for a few minutes. That’s it!
If you don’t manage to eat these all in one setting, just put them in an airtight container and eat them within a few days or so.
Well, what are you waiting for? If you’ve got a package of tortillas laying around, whip up these cinnamon sugar tortilla chips and start snacking away. I hope you love them as much as I do!
Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips
Satisfy your sweet snacking needs with these tasty, sweet tortilla chips!
- 6 soft taco-sized soft flour tortillas
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 heaping tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Start by preheating your oven to 400 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Cut tortillas into bite-sized chip pieces (I cut each tortilla into 8 pieces) and toss the pieces in to a medium-sized bowl. Drizzle with butter, and toss to coat. Mix together the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl, then sprinkle over the top of the tortilla pieces, turning evenly to coat and making sure each tortilla piece is separated and evenly coated.
Arrange pieces evenly on the baking sheet in a single layer (its okay if the pieces overlap a little). Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to sit on the baking sheet for a few minutes to crisp up. Remove from the sheet and allow to cool completely. Enjoy!
